In today's world being so technologically savvy, it is scary to think about who is researching information about you on the internet. When Googling my name, I was very happy to see that the only thing that came up about my name (other than different people with my same name) was my Facebook profile. Thanks to the privacy settings I have set on my Facebook, a random person that I have not approved as my friend (such as I was when searching) was not able to access my account. Even though this does seem to make my information very private, I am aware that there are people that can find a loophole and still access my information. That is why I am very careful at what I post on my Facebook, as well as any other things online. I do not put any contact information, address, etc. in hopes that people will not be able to find out a lot about me if I do not allow them to. Even though I was happily surprised when I Googled my name, I was upset to find that when I searched Google Images, a picture of me was on the first page of results. It was a picture that someone had tagged me in on Facebook, and there was no way I could delete that picture from the internet. I'm sure just having this picture up there would allow someone to find out some kind of information about me even though I have been careful to try to stay private.
The Web Portfolio has been very helpful for me because it has allowed me to present myself publically in a way that I want to be presented. Through the portfolio I hope to clearly lay out my goals and professional mindset to future employers so that they will see me as a cantidate for a position. Through the portfolio I hope that I can display my passion for teaching and helping others and what I have done to prove that so far. By organizing my portfolio in a clear, easy-to-use manner while still using a great amount of detail, I hope to maximize the benefits of having online information. My ultimate goal is that when anyone (especially future employers and school districts) Googles my name, the first thing they will see is this website that I have worked hard to show my true self.
